Mintages and worth of french €2 coins (UNC - BU - proof) - Numismag

The €2 coin is part of the eight euro circulation coins range. It is issued by the countries of the euro zone and by countries that have established agreements with the European authorities. Euro coins minting in France began in April 1998 at the french mint’s Pessac workshop and was put into circulation january the first 2002. The coin has a common reverse side for all countries, issuing euro coins and a national obverse side chosen by the issuing country, according to the specifications set up by the European authorities. The piece is made of a bi-Metallic alloy: a nickel core covered with nickel plated brass. The ring is composed of copper-nickel alloy. According to the ECB, as of January 1st 2021, there are 6 667 050 392 €2 coins in circulation.   French €2 coins specifications The drawing represents a stylized tree in a hexagon, representing France, surrounded by the french national motto “FREEDOM – EQUALITY – FRATERNITY”. The illustration is surrounded by the 12 stars of the European flag, on the outer ring, on a crossing of lines, between which is indicated the yearmark. In 2013, a report of french Financial Auditors cour pointed out a poor management of the production of euro coins. In fact, the public cash managers did greatly overestimate the need of currency. The market values are indicative and will be updated. The prices for the BU and proof coins are for coins in perfect condition, notably without significant oxidation that alters the coin. Following the enlargement of the European Union in 2004 and Slovenia’s adoption of the euro in 2007, the common side that represented the Europe of 15 was revised, following a decision of the EU Council  in 2005. It was decided to include all the countries of Europe and avoid having to change the map with each enlargement. The countries had to adopt the new reverse side in 2008, at latest. All countries already using the euro are adopting the new reverse side in early 2007, with the exception of Austria, Italy, Portugal, San Marino and the Vatican, which will adopt it in 2008. No circulation coins were struck from 2007 to 2010, and in 2020.   Yearmark Mintages market value UNC – BU – proof UNC BU/FDC Proof 2021 ? 15.000 7.500 – 2020 no coins issue 15.000 7.500  – 2019 36.450.000 15.000 7.500 – 2018 49.518.000 29.000 7.500 – 2017 29.970.000 28.500 7.500 – 2016 15.876.000 28.500 7.500 8€/12€/20€ 2015 13.000.000 28.000 7.500 8€/12€/17€ 2014 8.892.000 27.741 5.338 8€/12€/20€ 2013 17.302.500 28.475 6.661 8€/12€/25€ 2012 36.936.000 30.962 7.804 6€/12€/20€ 2011 36.024.000 38.137 9.000 6€/11€/25€ 2010 no coins issue – 8.992 – /10€/18€ 2009 no coins issue 49.100 7.500 – /10€/18€ 2008 no coins issue 55.859 7.500 – /10€/20€ 2007 no coins issue 59.549 7.500 – /10€/20€   Sources : LegiFrance, Trésor public (IRS), Monnaie de Paris (french mint) and Numismag©
