College Infrastructure
Starting its journey in the field of higher education from 1996 the college has not developed in its full swing. The college has not adequate number of class rooms for all departments as the college has overloaded considering the student strength at present. Hence the college does not provide all students in its existing class rooms. However the college seeks to expand its infrastructure by mobilizing funds from different agencies like, UGC, State Government of West Bengal, MP local area development fund, MLA fund, Zila Parisad, Panchayet Samiti, Uttarbanga Unnayan Parsad etc. The college has five smart class room, class rooms with LCD projectors .The College has a seminar hall of 100 seating capacity well -equipped with LCD projectors, sound system and musical instruments. There are sufficient class rooms for taking tutorials/ extra classes in the college from 2.30 p.m. onward. There are three laboratories in the college for sciences & geography respectively though more space is needed for that purpose. A well furnished general staff room with personal lockers, computer and internet facility is available for teaching staff. The college plans and strategies in such a way that the available infrastructure is utilised at its optimum level. To strengthen security, CCTV cameras have been fixed at different portion of the campus including the entrance of the college. The college has clearly specified space for executing the common facilities available on the campus. These facilities include IQAC ( Internal Quality Assurance Cell), Grievance Redressal Unit, Women Cell, Counselling and Carrier Guidance Cell, Canteen, Safe drinking water facility, Sound system for the whole campus buildings and seminar hall etc. The Library of the college has a good stock of text book with multiple volume and reference books. Total area of the library is 185.80 sq.mt. It provides a part of space for reading facility both to the students and staff. Computer with Wi-Fi internet connection are available both for students and teachers in the library .it provides open access system to staff only. Library access is open for all on every normal working days (except national holidays and puja vacation), before and during examination days and summer vacation for five hours. The library staff are very helpful and they help the students and teachers in finding the require resources. The library has an advisory committee. The significance initiatives taken by the committee render the library students/user friendly include computerization of the library, library automation (College-library module software) procurement of e-books and e-journal through membership of INFLIBNET etc. Feedback is collected in a prescribed format from the entire library users about the facilities and services offered by the library.
At present the college has 48 desktops and 12 laptops for the smooth functioning of its administrative and academic activities. There are several computers with broadband connectivity. The college has installed LAN with a high configuration Server. In certain Block of the college Wi-Fi facility is available. The principal’s chamber, the Administrative Block, Library, staff room and IQAC room have internet facility. The ratio of computer and students in the college is approximately 1: 83. The college allocates fund for procurement, up-gradation, deployment and maintenance of the computers and their accessories.
There is a big playground in the college. Many sports material are available as there is a physical science department of the college. Common rooms both for boys and girls with indoor playing facilities are available. Along with indoor sports facilities there are also football/ cricket /Kho-Kho field available in the college campus.
There is no health centre within the campus. In case of medical emergencies the students and staff are taken to the nearby Kamakhyaguri block primary health centre which is half km. away from the college. All types of medical service are provided by the BMOH, Kamakhyaguri to all stakeholders as required especially during the final examination. A seek room is also provided for the ailing students during the examination time.
The college has 296 KVA Kiloskar green generators which have been installed at safe place to provide uninterrupted power supply for the safety of sensitive equipment. Apart from this there are also one cycle stand for the students and a car shade for teaching and non-teaching staff. A newly built drinking water shade and wash room has been constructed for all students in general and students of physical education department in particular.
