History

The college is originally located in a tribal land, which was exchanged in lieu of land located elsewhere. The local people of Kamakhyaguri has immense contribution for construction of the college. The Institution is located in Kumargram block, which is very backward socially and economically. Thus, it was necessary to set up a higher educational Institution in this locality. The college originally started functioning in Kamakhyaguri Boys High School with very few students and three teachers in permanent posts. Initially the college received students from neighbouring villages only, which ultimately grew to above five thousand students including the students from far away places! Historically the place by and large belongs to backward communities. Hence, the college effectively serves the interests of the backward communities, poor students, minorities and so on.
